Description The People's Bank of China is the central bank of the People's Republic of China, usually known simply as "China", sometimes mainland China, not to be confused with the Republic of China which is not officially recognised by the People's Republic. The People's Bank of China is in overall charge of currency and coin production and distribution. It operates a number of mints, some of which undoubtedly produce circulation coin for their local region, as China is a large country. Other mints produce specialised products such as gold, silver, platinum, palladium, and collectors coins. China Gold Coin Incorporation is responsible for "Chinese Modern Precious Metal Commemorative Coins" (CMPMCC), and lists the following as branch companies:-
